Hinulawan Festival and the Festive Days
Toledonhons are also devout Christians and have validated this during their Hinulawan festival which is held every June 12 in commemoration of their patron saint, St. John of Sahagun. The celebration is held annually with street dancing, Party events, showbands and a mardi gras parade with participants in vibrant colored costumes and artistic floats. The festival gets better and better every year and attracts more local and foreign tourists.
The 12 day long fiesta celebration will kick off with fireworks at the opening salvo on the first day of June and different kinds of activities will be happening during the day and in the evening.
During the day, a market bazaar is open where you find lots of items to choose from at very low prices and a food street where one can feast on the variety of local foods that are not only delicious but affordable as well. The highlight of the event during the day is the fluvial parade on the dawn of June 11 the day before the fiesta which will start at Toledo port going to Barangay Bato then route back to Toledo straight to Balamban and ends on its starting point. Also, the hinulawan festival that is held on the day of the fiesta starts with a holy mass then followed with a parade that ends at the parola for the program proper.
In the evening a special line up of activities is held at the Barba sports complex such nightly activities consists of the barangay night which is intended for all the 38 barangays of Toledo to come together for one evening with each barangay given time to perform . Employees night is for the employees of the Toledo city hall were each department will showcase their talents. Corporate night is an evening devoted for all the private companies operating in the city. The search for binibining Toledo talents night obviously the candidates will showcase their talents. Then the coronation night or the pageant proper where the new binibining Toledo will be crowned. The market vendors night is an evening for all the market vendors of Toledo public market. International night is the night dedicated for all toledonhons who have made a name for themselves abroad or have migrated abroad or have lived abroad and have come home to celebrate with us for the fiesta celebration. A foam party is for everyone to have fun get wet and be wild with a concert or a live band and a disco at the parola on the night of the fiesta for everyone to enjoy and officially closing the fiesta celebration.
