The TWG-Every Brgy. is a Park and the Toledo LGU awarded Brgy. City Agricultural Services Best Office Practice launched last CY 2008, dedicated to farmers and all constituents interested in practice Crops/ Biodegradable slid waste management thereby promoting also the production of organic fertilizers. This project is initiated by the the Office of the City agriculturist Mrs. Lucille Tomarong, Mr. Rene Mabao, agricultural technologists and personnel.

The importance of this project is to expose Toledo City farmers in varied farms so as to share and exchange views with colleagues on how to increase farm profuctivity.

City Enro, PSD Conducted a takakura method of composting at the City Agriculture's office to the heads of senior citizen's and other peoples organization in the hope of reducing 10% of the City's garbage volume as the use of live microorganism in the composting process.

In celebration of the 49th Charter Day Anniversary of the City of Toledo, Lady Governor of the Province of Cebu graced the event with Cong. Garcia, Board Member Zambo with the City Officials. There were recognition and awarding for all the winners in the diff. programs launched by the City.

As one of the activities of the Charter Day celebration, the City launches the Pinoy games for everyone ----Palo Sebo, pig catching, Maria went to town, obstacle race, sack race , peeling of coconut and many others. It was held 1:00 p.m. at the City Central School grounds where everybody enjoyed the games.

The 2009 dance palabas awarding was a success. 5 diff. schools from elem. and the 8 schools from the high school category highlight the contest... featuring modern, hip hop, modern, jazz and the like. It was judged by Engr. Junjet Primor, Vic Eyao and vInce Escario.

The unveiling of the Golden Anniversary Countdown for the 50th year Charter Day Anniversary celebration was led by Mayor Zambo, Vice-Mayor and the City Officials with guests, Hon. Gov. Gwen Garcia, Cong. PJ., Board Member Zambo. It was done prior to the 49th charter day anniversary program
held at the Barba Complex hosted by Mrs. Trinidad Bubuli.

The 2008 Rizal Day in commemmoration of the 112th tribute to our National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal was attended by Vice-Mayor Rudy Espinosa and City councilors together with the Department Heads and the Local & National Offices with the Dep Ed. Everyone who attended brought flowers for the hero.

This year's champion for the Daygon Contest was the Consolatrix College, 2nd-ASMC La Salle and 3rd place goes to UV. Judges were Sir Jun Cimafranca, Hon. Amy De Pio, and Japril Yap - interpreter of songwriting competition.

For the first time, her Honor, Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia graced the 2008 ABC Christmas Party. There were gifts grom the ABC and also from the City officials, all for the 38 brgy. captains of the City.

Toledo City CLUP was approved and gained merit during the deliberation at the Commercial Arcade, December 11, 2008. There were recommendations and suggestions for the CLUP and every discussion made a salient part on Toledo City. The deliberators gained appreciation also from the City.

The Office of Merly Abad, with City Mayor & City Vice-Mayor and Councilors distributed stethoscope, bp apparatus to 38 barangays to assist them in their health needs and reach out to the constituents as well.

The 1st TWG evaluation on every barangay is a park assessed the 38 barangays in their implementation of the holistic approach of the program as implemented by the City of Toledo. All the members of the technical working group and the documentary staff of the City came and visit the barangays to evaluate their status and to also help augment & foster development in their barangay in various aspects.

In view of the artist painting exhibit on January 6, the renowned painters who hailed from Toledo City convene for a meeting with the City Tourism Officer to discuss matters pertaining to the exhibit as part of the City's charter Day celebration.

Vermicompost (also called worm compost, vermicast, worm castings, worm humus or worm manure) is the end-product of the breakdown of organic matter by some species of earthworm. Vermicompost is literally the best nutrient-rich, organic fertilizer and soil conditioner. The process of producing vermicompost is called vermicomposting.

The earthworm species (or composting worms) most often used are Red Wigglers (Eisenia foetida). These species are commonly found in organic rich soils throughout Europe and North America and especially prefer the special conditions in rotting vegetation, compost and manure piles. Composting worms are available from nursery mail-order suppliers or angling (fishing) shops where they are sold as bait. Small-scale vermicomposting is well-suited to turn kitchen waste into high-quality soil, where space is limited.

Together with bacteria, earthworms are the major catalyst for decomposition in a healthy vermicomposting system, although other soil species also play a contributing role: these include insects, other worms and molds.

The seminar was attended by the TWG-Environment as organized by the Phil. Urban Poor Commission and the LGU Brgy. Captains.

Toledo City Government thru Toledo City Sports Commission launched the opening of the Inter-Department & Inter School Sportsfest dubbed as the 4th Mayor's Cup on Nov. 25, 2008.There were 8 teams from the inter-department & 5 teams from the Inter-School. (west,east,north,south,UV)They will compete with the ff. events: basketball,volleyball,lawn tennis, chess,billiard,badminton and others.

The City Officials and department heads from Bogo City paid a visit to Toledo City to exchange information and learn more salient facts about both cities as well.

CENRO Toledo , Toledo ENRO, with the Regional Office, DENR, MGB, Forestry and other agencies connected therein launched the Information Caravan on November 18, 2008 to all the sectors in Toledo to make them fully aware of the environmental condition around them and discuss measures to augment their community involvement towards the environment.

The 3rd judging for Gulayan sa Brgy. 08 was held at Brgy. Loay, Madugo and Landahan. Together with Mrs. Lucille Tomarong (City Agriculturist), DA-RFU 7, Mr. Jesus Sy (AFC), and CAS Staff with the presence of the barangay officials and farmers concerned.

Hon. Gwendolyn Garcia and Vice-Governor Greg Sanchez with the Provincial Board members and the department heads of the Province conducted the Out-of-Town Session held for the first time at Carmen Copper Clubhouse, 9:00-4:00 p.m.. There was a consultation from among the department heads concerned about the different programs and activities with the Gov.And, after lunch, they had a Mine tour simultaneous with the session of the Provincial Board. It was a very informative gathering. and

Nov.7...the City Agriculture Services Office spearheaded by Mrs. Lucila Tomarong, with the members of the Rural Improvement Club along with concerned agencies conducted a blood-letting at the CAS Training Center for the benefit of the RIC's and their family for important use in the latter days. It was also attended by Mayor Arlene Zambo who is also very much supportive of the program.

The Boy Scouts Camporee '08 held at Toledo Natl. Vocational School with Hon. Amuefino Perales and the Department Of Education, students and teachers was a success despite heavy rains. They learned a lot out from being boy scouts not only in their schools but most, to develop full potential in their personal growth for them to become better citizens.

SWAPP & ECO-Gov assessed Toledo's sanitary landfill prior to the construction on October 28, 2008. Representatives from the solid waste association of the Phils.Bebot Salazar,Mario Almocera, Kent Omiction and the TWG group on landfill conducted a thorough study on the site. The group evaluated the area in which the initiation of the phasing/layering of the project. The site inspection was an output of the SLF seminar held at Bohol Tropics.

Vice-Mayor Rudy Espinosa with sponsors Ms. Andrea Tan, Toledo LGU presents a concert for a cause at Barba Sports Complex for Talavera and Bato Parishes. This was performed by the Cebu Clergy Performing Artists.Guests were Apple Abarquez of PDA, Eman of PDA & Scrambled Eggs/Louie Espinosa, Janvy Esquilla,Jean Escanillan, Dra.Agravante,and Mayor Arlene Zambo.

It was a very special day for the CITY MAYOR as everyone celebrated her natal day at the City Mayor's office.

The arrival of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the City of Toledo dubbed as "Balikatan 2008" was warmly welcomed by the Toledanos.Vice-Mayor Rudy Espinosa and all the department heads and employees of the Toledo City Hall herald the arrival at the boundary of Bato from the Pinamungahan Mayor, Geraldine Yapha.

The Citywide launching for every barangay is a park on Oct.24 was a success.All the offices from the local and national dept., with the students from diff. schools, every barangay officials and community folks, private and public sectors from the City participated and joined in the clean up drive and greening the environment program.

Almost 200 graduates from the University on the Air Program of DYMR in cooperation with the Dept. of Agriculture and DA-RFU 7 with farmers from diff. brgys. and mostly Bunga farmers were congratulated and awarded during their Graduation, October 20, 2008.

As part of the LGU's projects, Mayor Arlene Zambo and City officials graced the opening of the Bunga road project funded by the 20% development fund of the City. Students from the high school and elementary levels with their teaches and the Bunga Brgy. Council warmly welcomed Mayor Zambo's arrival.

In observance of the National Week for Overcoming Extreme Poverty & the United Nations "Stand Up, Take Action" Against Poverty, and in pursuance of Memo.Circular No.2008-152 DILG and Toledo LGU thru DILG officer,Mrs. Gloria Pacampara supports the global event by calling all the offices to join in the campaign for poverty during the prayer & pledge in a flag retreat, Oct. 17, 2008.

Toledo LGU thru the delegates Engr. Pilar Canga, Ferdinand Marquez,Alexander Abella, Marvin Natural, PSD Chief, Rex Jose Ybanez participated in the one (1) day training of the Sanitary Landfill (SLF) Design Training at Bohol Tropics Resort last October 10, 2008.

The Association of Barangay Council gave birthday tribute to all the Brgy.Captains and that of Mayor Zambo who would be celebrating their natal day for the month during the monthly meeting held at Toledo Pension House,October 3, '08 thru the dynamic leadership of Hon. Edgar Aguilar & ABC.

The second judging for the Gulayan sa Brgy. '08 was conducted at Brgy. Carmen ("kalahari sili), Brgy. Puting Bato (Ampalaya garden), Brgy. Biga (Eggplant), Awihao and Bato (Eggplant). This was done by the City Agricultural Services Office (HVCC), AFC Thru Engr. Jess Sy and staff, DA- RFU 7 staff as judges for the program.

To promote the aesthetic beauty and environmental sustainability,solid waste mgt., household sanitation and health/nutrition. The City adapted the GWEN program and presented The Every Brgy. is a Park at Cebeco Auditorium to diff. school heads, the ABC, the private asso,., parish asso., TWG and many others.

It was a night filled with music, dances, songs, raffle door prizes and a lot more bonding with the employees and the City officials to cap the month-long celebration of the CSC month.

Toledo City's proud to have an artist n a painter, in name : Marvin Natural of the City Engineer's Office & a member of the famed "BINHI" Art Group. His painting exhibit in the City Library's a paint to behold "A Modern Filipino" an oil on canvass painting 18 x 24" attracts everyone not only for its artistry but for the concept it depicts.

The City Devt., Council meeting held at the Toledo Function Hall, on September 23 was geared towards the status of major projects,Programs,Projects, Activities (PPA'S), AIP for 2009, and PPA's funded under the 20% devt. fund.

The SRA (Social Reform Agenda) Scholars of the City met for a General Assembly at the 2nd flr., of the Commercial Arcade with the City Mayor & City Vice Mayor with the members of SRA- TWG and DA-RFU VII.

The annual Walk for a Cause was joined in by all sectors in the City of Toledo,coming from all the Local & National offices schools, private corporations , non governmental organizations, associations, Barangay contingents and many others. This is a fund raising activity to help the Alay Lakad Foundation in its charitable activities in sponsoring a scholarship program and the like.This is spearheaded by Rotary Club West, CSWDO, Dept. of Education, Toledo LGU unit and working committee.

The 1st Eye Anniversary held, Sunday,September 14, 2008 at Louie Beach was a day filled with music,songs,comical skits, games , bonding and more on information sharing on how to build dynamic & productive youth in the community, for them to become better citizens.

The City Agricultural & Services Training Office in cooperation with AFC, DA-RFU 7, Toledo LGU and the farmers asso., and Barangays launched the 1st Gulayan sa Barangay Contest '08. There were 18 barangays joining the contest, and 4 of which were scheduled in the 1st phase of judging. (Matab-ang,Talavera,
Cabitoonan, Pandong Bato)

Toledo LGU joins Corn Fest '08 held at Bayawan City,Negros Oriental, August 25-27, '08. They bring home prizes and emerged champion in Handicraft Skills & Demo contest, Corn Jingle Contest, Quiz Bee Contest, and get to participate in other categories as well. Mayor Zambo and City officials gave all-out support to the Fest, together with the City Tourism Officer,City Treasury, City Agriculture office and other offices concerned.

In line with the celebration of the Civil Service month, every Friday, at 4:00 p.m., all employees of the Local & National offices went to the Barba Sports Complex for the Fun Day. Spearheaded by the Dept. of Education, everyone sweat it out, groove & sway with the music doing aerobics, "hataw" and exercise to be physically fit & healthy, for a sound mind & body, and in order for them to be mentally fit in their work.

The much pressing demand for the basic consumption was taken cared of by the National Government, Cebu Provincial Capitol, and the LGU Toledo City, thus, every month the City has a schedule of visiting barangays to sell camote & rice at cheaper prices for the benefit of the constituents."Dubbed as the LGU operated NFA & Saksak program", it was carried on consistently without fail, all for the better services to Toledanos.

Encouraging the Youth for Exellence (EYE), a youth-oriented group met for the first time the City Mayor in a gathering held at the 2nd floor of the Commercial Arcade to share with the Mayor their dreams and support to the community related activities of the City such as Go Green Program, Feeding and other productive activities that cater to the responsive and eager aspect of the youth to help serve their Fellow Youth and others.

In view of the Civil Service Month, both Local & National offices actively support and exert efforts in the Coastal Clean-up from Boulevard to Lawis of this City.

The Phil.Environmental & Governance Project condcuted for the first time a training on soil permeability determination analysis in LGU SLF sites. This is in coordination with DILG,USAID, DENR-MGB-7,Regional Office on Environmental Governance held at Toledo City -Aug.12-13, 2008.

Her Honor Gov. Garcia led the distribution of School Supplies '08 at the City Central School Grounds. It was also grace with the presence of Cong. Pablo John Garcia,Mayor Arlene Zambo,Vice-Mayor Rudy Espinosa, Division Heads and School Principals,teachers and students. Toledo is one of the recepients of the Cebu Provincial Capitol project that is to distribute bags,school supplies, notebooks and other items to students.

June 7, 2008 @ DL & SD. The Toledo City Government thru Mayor Arlene Zambo in cooperation with GICS (Toledo Govt., Information & Computer Services) conducted the Seminar for interested participants in preparation for the Hinulawan Photo Contest. The resource speaker was Joseph Mariblanca,Sunstar Photographer.Twenty seven (27) participants came to attend the seminar and workshop. It was informative and new learnings on photography were discovered.

November 22, 2007 was the joint activity for the Oath Taking Ceremony of Barangay and SK Officials. Mayor Arlene E. Zambo was the Inducting Officer. The City of Toledo gave Recognition to the Three Termers Barangay Captains and Three Termer ABC President. Mrs. Gloria O. Pacampara the DILG Officer orient the Barangay Officials' functions after the induction.

As the month of September ends, the City of Toledo had its culminating activity last September 28, 2007. They give Plaque of Appreciation to the Outstanding Employees, Employees who have rendeered service for more than 30 years, Retired employees, the Recipients for the Plaque of Recognition with its individual field of experties and Certificates of Recognition.
It is also the day to know if the adopted children of every Deparment have a little or more progress on their weight and health.

Toledo City hosted this First Corn Festival last August 22-24, 2007 with its theme: "Improved Corn Productivity: For Better Health and Prifitability in Central Visayas".
